Where We've Been

Westside Assembly Of God was founded on July, 3rd, 1953. The Church was under the leadership of several different pastors in the years that followed, and soon began to grow into a fellowship of believers that embraced evangelism in the community. The church changed leadership, as well as locations during the first 20 years of its existence. Through prayer and innovation the church grew exponentially in the 1970's, and became nationally recognized for its outreach oriented programs. In 1971 Westside the church moved to its current location on River Drive where it continued to reach the community with the hope of Jesus Christ. Westside became known throughout the Quad Cities as the church with the bus ministry, and through this ministry hundreds gave their hearts to Christ. Even today you will find many individuals in the Quad Cities that have been in some way changed by what God did through westside in the early years of its existence. Over the past 6 decades Westside has encountered mountain tops and valleys. Since 1953 God has led Westside through many triumphs and tragedies, all of which have refined and strengthened the community of believers here at our church.

Where We Are

In 2006 Pastor Scott Rooks moved from Missouri to Davenport, IA to lead Westside out of the past and into God's present purpose for this church in the Quad Cities. Our history as a church is intrinsically connected to who we are as a body of believers, and from the foundation built by those in years past God is moving Westside into a place of new life, and renewed vision. In 2008 God began to refocus Westside's attention on discipleship, through small groups, and various discipleship classes. In 2009, Westside initiated a revitalization program to renovate our current facilities. As a church God has called us to be good stewards of what has been given to us, and as such Westside began to fix, update, and remodel our current facility, as well as pay off all outstanding debts. Additionally, God has given Westside a heart for this generation. Through the children and youth programs our church is penetrating the walls put up in this culture, and changing the hearts of the young people in our community. God has given Pastor Scott a clear mandate to preach Biblical truths in a culture that rejects God's word. Without compromise our Sunday morning experience is focused on the Bible. While the method of how we reach the community may change from one generation to another, the message must stay the same. Westside is a church that focuses on spiritual growth through Biblical truths, and is more interested in people rather than programs.
